Aarhus University recommends that when traveling to high-risk countries, including Russia, DPRK, Iran and China, that you use an IT travel kit rather than your own IT equipment from Aarhus University.

An IT travel kit is a set of IT equipment specially designed for business trips to countries with high security risks. The kit includes a laptop and a mobile phone, both configured to protect AU data from unauthorized access.

How to get an IT travel kit

1) Create a case in the Cherwell support system no later than two weeks before the planned trip, explaining where you are going

2) You will then receive a link with more detailed information about IT equipment selection, installations and pickup

Security in research
The IT travel kit recommendation comes at a time when URIS ("Committee on Guidelines for International Research and Innovation Cooperation") is investigating security aspects at all stages of research. URIS will issue more detailed communication at a later date if it becomes mandatory to use IT travel kits in research activities.
