At this year's People's Meeting on Bornholm, the "Universities' Beer Battle" was held, where Aarhus University competed against DTU and the University of Copenhagen to present the best fermentation technology.

Aarhus University won, and it was the three BCE employees, Bo Spange Sørensen, Johannes Lønstrup Jensen and Henning Sejer Jakobsen, who brewed the winning beer, Second Hand Ale.

"Brewing is about much more than beer. At Aarhus University, the beer brewing process is used as an example of an advanced biotechnological process that can be varied in countless ways both by changing ingredients and by changing process parameters. The brewing process is included in the theoretical as well as the practical teaching of food technology", says Bo Spange Sørensen to AU Engineering's website.

"We really like the beer ourselves, and we're looking forward to once again competing against the other universities in next year's competition," Bo Spange Sørensen continues.
