The 2nd Section Retreat: Industrial Biotechnology
After very warm reception of last year’s installment, the second Section Retreat: Industrial Biotechnology in the Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering at Aarhus University took place on 30th and 31st May.
The first day of the Retreat took place in Studenterhuset Aarhus and was dedicated to the entry-level researchers at the Department, namely PhD students and postdocs. The focus of the day was science communication. The participants took part in a workshop about public speaking led by Ida Cecilie Jensen and research paper writing led by Morten Pilegaard. This was followed by a team-building activity, where the young researchers solved various puzzles and tasks that promoted teamwork and networking among the research groups. The day finished with dinner and drinks in the sun at Studenterhuset.
The second day of Retreat took place in AIAS building and was devoted to research dissemination with talks by PhD students, postdocs and faculty members, followed by poster session. The Retreat concluded with a delightful dinner in Food Club which inspired animated science discussions among its participants.
The organizing committee, Marie Selch Tvilum, Amalie Kirstine Hessellund Nielsen and Marta Irla, are very satisfied with positive reception of the Retreat and look forward to next year’s Retreat.
