On this page, you can learn more about the Department Forum, its members, and find agendas and minutes from previous meetings.
The Department Forum is a central body for participation in decision-making at the Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering. Its purpose is to ensure the development of ideas, quality, transparency, and legitimacy in all decisions concerning academic matters at the department.
The Department Forum also contributes to ensuring the department’s academic and social identity and cohesion.
The Head of Department ensures staff and student participation in decision-making on academic matters in a broad sense through continuous and timely involvement of the Department Forum. Significant matters relating to research, talent development, knowledge exchange, and education are therefore discussed with the Forum, which serves as an important platform for dialogue and participation in decision-making.
The Department Forum may express its views on all academic matters of significant importance to the department’s activities and discusses the matters submitted by the Head of Department or the Dean.
The Department Forum meets 2-3 times a year.
The Department Forum consists of the Head of Department and representatives elected from among the department’s academic staff, including employed PhD students, as well as representatives from the department’s technical and administrative staff and students.
The composition of the Department Forum must take into account the size, composition, and diversity of the department. Appropriate representation of academic staff, PhD students, technical and administrative staff, and students must be ensured, so that, as far as possible, no group is represented by only one member.
